Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Si C’Etait Vrai in the 1:25 at Naas and Peveril in the 3:25 at Folkestone
Nicky Henderson got 2011 off to the best possible start, saddling the first two winners at Cheltenham yesterday, and on Sunday at Folkestone he saddles Peveril (3:25) who can make a winning debut over fences.
A smart hurdler, he finished third to Grands Crus at Haydock off a mark of 140 last time and looks the type to do even better over the larger obstacles.
Over in Ireland, Naas stages a cracking renewal of the Grade 2 Slaney Novice Hurdle, a race that has gone the way of some classy sorts down the years.
None of the six runners can be ruled out in a very hot race, but Si C’Etait Vrai (1:25) is a horse I am very fond of and, though he is more of a long-term chasing prospect, he looks classy enough to land a race of this nature over timber.
Dessie Hughes’ youngster receives 3lbs from his five rivals and won’t be inconvenienced by the prevailing ground.
Sunday’s selections:
Si C’Etait Vrai: 1:25 Naas
Peveril: 3:25 Folkestone
