Live on BBC 2: Tue 19.45: Despite losing the 1st leg down at Portman Road, Arsenal are 1/5 (Betfred) to make the Carling Cup final.
Arsenal’s Carling Cup semi-final clash with Ipswich could follow the same pattern as the Gunners’ FA Cup third round tie against Leeds. In that one, Arsene Wenger’s men struggled in the first encounter, eventually earning a replay by the skin of their teeth but went on to cruise to victory in the second contest. Meanwhile, in the League Cup, Arsenal were beaten at Portman Road in the first leg but mirroring the FA Cup, they can get the job done as the pair face-off for a second time.
Sadly, the Gunners are just 1/5 with Betfred to reach the Wembley final and 1/7 (Paddy Power) to win the second leg clash and after they cost punters a fortune when losing the first leg, most will be reluctant to wade into long odds-on prices.
Even the handicaps aren’t overly enticing, Coral’s 6/4 chalked against Arsenal when they’re starting from two goals back about the best available, although bet365’s 8/13 for the Gunners to net at least three times looks relatively safe.
It might therefore be worth focusing on individual players at the Emirates Stadium, where Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are both 13/10 with to striker at any time and William Hill chalk 6/4 against either player breaking the deadlock.
Recommended Bets:
Cesc Fabregas or Samir Nasri to score first for Arsenal – 6/4 (William Hill)
