Live On Sky Sports 1: Sun: 16:00. Betrescue’s Chief Sports Writer Chris Hutcheon previews the clash at Ewood Park where he expects Blackburn to beat West Brom
Last week’s 3-2 victory in a cracking contest against Blackpool, snapped a sequence of six straight league and cup defeats for West Brom, but they will have their work cut out if they are to avoid another defeat today as they head to Ewood Park to face Blackburn.
The Baggies have struggled on the road this season, losing seven of their eleven away matches and subsequently, they’re Betfred’s 12/5 outsiders to make it back-to-back wins while the hosts have been installed as 13/10 favourites by Stan James.
Given that the two sides have only shared the spoils in four matches apiece all season, there’s little to suggest that punters will collect on draw bets at 12/5 with , although bookies remain cautious about a 1-1 scoreline, available at a best price of just 6/1 courtesy of Coral.
It’s a contest that should produce a positive outcome and sadly for Roberto Di Matteo’s side, a home win seems the most likely result. Between them, the pair should generate more than 2.5 goals (9/10, bet365) and Totesport make Steve Kean’s charges 18/1 to emerge as 3-1 winners, as they did when the two met at the Hawthorns in the reverse fixture back in December.
Nevertheless, on this occasion, it could prove to be a touch closer and with both teams set to find the net (7/10, Partybets), the correct score value arguably lies with a 2-1 Rovers triumph at 9.0 (8/1) with Betdaq.
Elsewhere, Peter Odemwingie has bagged eight goals this season and Paddy Power rate him at 2/1 to notch a ninth at some point while at the other end, Ladbrokes chalk 7/4 against Roque Santa Cruz grabbing his first goal since returning to Ewood Park. Perhaps the best bet however, given West Brom’s struggles defensively where set-pieces are concerned and the hosts’ aerial threat, is 888Sport’s4/1 for the opening goal to be a header.
Recommended Bets:
First goal in Blackburn v West Brom to be a header – 4/1 (888Sport)
