Paul Ferguson has two more selections for us on Ban Holiday Monday, both at Hereford; 12:20 Charminster; 12:50 Spanish Treasure
Donald McCain’s horses seem in fine form at present and he saddles Charminster (12:20) in the first division of Hereford’s 2m1f maiden hurdle.
The former Irish points winner finished second to Herdsman in an Aintree bumper on his rules debut and then reversed form with that rival at Haydock, where he showed a fine of turn of foot.
Herdsman didn’t run too badly behind another McCain winner at Uttoxeter on New Year’s Eve and the five-year-old is fancied to make a winning debut over jumps.
The second division can go the way of Spanish Treasure (12:50) who ran reasonably well in an all-weather bumper 13 days ago.
That was his first start for Andrew Turnell, having previously won a bumper at the Punchestown Festival for trainer Eddie Hales, after which he was bought for £105,000 by current connections.
Monday’s selections:
12:20 Hereford: Charminster
12:50 Hereford: Spanish Treasure
