Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Monday – both at Plumpton – Skint (13.05) and Rackham Lerouge (13.35). Compare horse racing odds.
It was a real shame that Huntingdon was abandoned on Sunday, but one of our selections carries over to Monday in the shape of Skint (1:05) who is fancied to maintain his 100% record at Plumpton.
The Stratford bumper winner won well on his hurdles bow at Wincanton and the runner-up, The Reformer, gave the form a boost by winning at Exeter last Sunday.
He is bred to appreciate the step up in trip and certainly gives the impression this distance is well within his compass, yet he appears to have the tactical speed to act on the tight track.
This looks a hotter race than he would have run in yesterday, but that simply means he can be backed at bigger odds.
Nicky Henderson’s only other runner on the card is Rackham Lerouge (1:35) in what looks a really competitive novices’ chase and, though he will be better over further, he could be worth taking a chance on.
If his Huntingdon refusal was a one-off, Medermit will be tough to beat, but he might be worth taking on tomorrow and this half-brother to Punchestowns has the look of a chaser.
The five-year-old is rated just 128 over timber and that looked a mark from which he could win a handicap, so the fact that connections send him straight over fences indicate that schooling has gone well and he can leave his hurdles form behind.
Monday’s selections:
1:05 Plumpton Skint
1:35 Plumpton Rackham Lerouge
