William Hill are sweating on what will be the biggest ever white Christmas payout should the predicted snow appear on Christmas day.
“We have taken a record number of white Christmas bets this year and the latest forecast suggests that there is a real chance that the infamous industry Million Pound Payout will happen for the first time,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.
It could also be a long, cold winter for bookmakers who have slashed the price of the record coldest temperature in the UK (-27.2 C Jan 10th 1982, Aberdeenshire) from an original 25/1 to 3/1, with bets of up to £800 placed in the last ten days!
