A winner at Thurles for Paul Ferguson on Thursday, today he has three selections for us from Ascot. 1:00: Sprinter Sacre; 1:35: Master Of The Hall; 2:10 Megastar
Aegean Dawn did us a good turn at Cheltenham last Friday but, considering he could be backed at 4/1 early on last week, he looks a shade skinny at Ascot this afternoon.
Therefore, stable-mate Master Of The Hall (1:35) becomes the day’s best bet in the beginners’ chase over 2m5f.
The six-year-old has already won an Irish point-to-point and scored on his first two starts over timber last term, before disappointing in the Sidney Banks at Huntingdon.
Expected to make the grade a chaser, he can strike at the first time of asking for Nicky Henderson and Barry Geragthy, who can also land the opener thanks to dual bumper winner Sprinter Sacre (1:00).
Hugely impressive on his second start at Ayr on Scottish Grand National day, the son of Network has reportedly schooled well and looks the type to do well over timber.
Another hurdling debutant capable of scoring is Megastar (2:10) who should have little trouble in landing the Introductory Hurdle for Gary and Jamie Moore.
The striking Kayf Tara gelding won a hot Sandown bumper on debut (had Master Of The Hall back in fourth), he went on to finish fifth to Cue Card in the Champion Bumper, before beating dual hurdles winner Dare Me in Aintree’s Grade 2.
Friday’s selections:
1:00 Ascot: Sprinter Sacre
1:35 Ascot: Master Of The Hall
2:10 Ascot: Megastar
