Imperial Commander is now the clear 10/3 favourite for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup with Totesport after winning the Betfair Chase.
The winner was value for more than the winning distance after putting the race to bed with a fine jump at the last with Paddy Brennan easing his mount down as Tidal Bay finished strongly. The runner-up has been quoted at 25/1 by totesport for the Gold Cup.
‘Imperial Commander made amends for last year’s near-miss in the Betfair Chase with an authoritative performance at Haydock this afternoon and though connections may be keen to have another crack at the King George, a successful defence of his Gold Cup crown is surely the main target,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
Imperial Commander has also been cut to 4/1 (from 7/1) by totesport for the King George VI Chase at Kempton behind even money favourite Kauto Star.
