Paul Ferguson has three selections on Saturday; Kauto Star in the 2.25 at Down Roayl, Noble Alan in the 2.40 at Kelso and Sonny Mullen in the 3.30 at Sandown.
Dual Gold Cup winner Kauto Star (2:25) returns to action this afternoon at Down Royal and he really ought to make a winning reappearance in a race he won in 2008.
The ten-year-old goes well fresh and I expected him to be a lot shorter than his morning price of 4/6.
At Kelso, the concession of 20lbs to Noble Alan (2:40) may prove a tough ask for Kalahari King on his return.
The proviso with Nicky Richards’ grey is that he goes best on good ground, so connections will be hoping the rain stays away.
Down at Sandown, novice Sonny Mullen (3:30) is worth taking a chance on in the 3m handicap chase.
A useful lightly raced hurdler, he made an encouraging fencing debut at Ffos Las last month when runner-up to a potentially smart sort.
He jumped really well that day, the step up in trip should suit and Kim Bailey has his string in fine form at present.
Saturday’s selections:
2:25 Down Royal: Kauto Star
2:40 Kelso: Noble Alan
3:30 Sandown: Sonny Mullen
