It’s four winners on the trot now for Paul Ferguson. He hopes to score again with Mayberry in the 4.20 at Wincanton.
Thursday looks a quiet day from a punting perspective, but with a fantastic weekend of racing ahead of us, it is simply the calm before the storm.
At Wincanton the Elite Racing Club Handicap Hurdle can go the way of Emma Lavelle’s mare Mayberry (4:20).
The daughter of Silver Patriarch has won a bumper and a maiden hurdle at Fontwell and didn’t shape badly at the same track when last seen in May.
After an early error, she did well to get involved and is worth another chance of the same mark.
A smooth traveller through her races, the five-year-old could easily improve for the drop back to 2m on a speed track like Wincanton.
Thursday’s selection:
4:20 Wincanton: Mayberry
Course winner Ackertac (3:45) is another to note later on the card.
He was an impressive winner here last month and, whilst that was a poor contest and improvement is required, the step up in trip looks very much in his favour.
Wednesday’s selections:
2:40 Uttoxeter Nicene Creed
3:45 Uttoxeter Ackertac
