Live on ITV 1: Wed 19.45: Spurs are really up against it tonight as they play away at the home of the current champions, Inter Milan.
Tottenham have certainly ridden their luck in the Champions League so far this term but their good fortune could be about to run out as they head to Italy to face Inter. Harry Redknapp’s men are 9/2 outsiders to come out on top but the solid form of the hosts, particularly defensively, suggests that they should have the measure of Spurs and bookies agree, Betfred posting 8/11 against the defending champions.
Werder Bremen were on the end of a 4-0 thumping courtesy of Rafa Benitez’s side in their last Champions League match at the San Siro and although Tottenham should fare a little better, in Rafael van der Vaart’s absence they may struggle to break down Inter, who are 12/5 (888Sport) to keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet and win ‘to nil’.
In-form striker Samuel Eto’o meanwhile, is the man that can do the damage for the home side, but bookies are acutely aware of the threat he poses and subsequently the best price available for the former Barca man to net is Stan James’ 11/10.
Manchester United still can’t seem to find their rhythm, Saturday’s 2-2 draw with West Brom their third stalemate in a row, but the fact that those results sandwich a 1-0 victory in Valencia suggests that Sir Alex Ferguson’s men can put aside their unconvincing domestic form to one side to collect three Champions League points at the expense of Bursaspor.
United however, are just 1/4 (Paddy Power) to overcome their Turkish opponents, who have yet to score in Group C, and the visitors lack of goals could see the hosts combine victory with a shutout (20/21, bet365).
Elsewhere, fresh from a creditable draw with Barcelona, Russain side Rubin Kazan are worth considering with a goal start at 1/2 with Totesport as they head to Panathinaikos, also at 1/2, this time with William Hill, are Schalke, who can contradict their Bundesliga struggles by beating Hapoel Tel Aviv.
FC Twente meanwhile look cracking value at 7/5 () to send Werder Bremen home empty-handed.
