More Home Comforts For Spireites

Chesterfield are 11/10 with William Hill to continue their winning home form in League 2, this time against Shrewsbury.

League Two leaders Chesterfield have taken to the b2net stadium well this season, landing 16 points from a possible 18 at their new home and they can continue that fine form this weekend as they take on fifth-placed Shrewsbury.

The visitors have been inconsistent away from home, winning their first two but failing to collect a maximum haul on the road since then and the prolific Spireites, at 11/10 with William Hill, look well placed to capitalise on Town’s travelling uncertainty.

Craig Davies has been crucial in the flying start made to the campaign by John Sheridan’s side and the well-travelled striker, who has five in his last six, is a tempting 9/2 with Coral to break the deadlock in this clash.

Port Vale are on Chesterfield’s coat tails in second place but they’ve lost a bit of momentum of late, taking just two points from their last three games and they could be worth opposing at Cheltenham.

Admittedly, Micky Adams’ side can boast four wins and a draw from their six away matches but the Robins can match that record on their own patch and although it’s something of a leap of faith to back them, we think that Mark Yates’ charges have been underestimated by who make them 2/1 to win a contest that looks more even than the odds suggest.

Torquay won their first four matches but haven’t managed a victory since and their dismal run is set to continue at Gillingham. Andy Hessenthaler’s men have won three of their last four at the Priestfield Stadium and they’re simply too big at 13/10 (888Sport) to get the better of the Gulls, who have conceded seven times in their last two outings.

Also at 13/10, this time with Coral are Crewe, who are unbeaten in ten and are set to extend that run by sending inconsistent Aldershot home empty-handed. Meanwhile, Hereford remain bottom of League Two but a draw with high-flying Port Vale and a 4-3 victory at Northampton, where they came back from 3-0 down, suggest that the Bulls are threatening a recovery. They might be worth a modest interest then at 13/8 (Betfred) given that opponents Accrington have lost their last two and are without an away win all season.

Cheltenham to beat Port Vale – 2/1 ()
Double – Gillingham and Crewe – 4/1 (888Sport)
