Paul Ferguson has two selections from Ffos Las on Sunday – Mediolanum and Cappagh.
As usual for this time of year Nigel Twiston-Davies has his string in fine shape and his newcomer Mediolanum (3:20) is fancied to land the 2m4f maiden hurdle at Ffos Las this afternoon.
A bumper winner for Charlie Swan at Killarney in May, the son of Milan looked a bright prospect and he can take this before going on to bigger and better things.
Another trainer in hot form at present is Philip Hobbs. Fresh from a four-timer yesterday, Hobbs saddles Cappagh (2:45) in the second race on the card and J P McManus’ five-year-old can make it two from two over fences.
A handicap hurdle winner over 3m at Exeter on his penultimate start, he made a winning chase debut over 2m last time at Perth, where he was still on the bridle after the last fence.
This race looks a fair bit stronger, but he is improving all the time and will be at the top of his game with the Hobbs horses in such good order.
Sunday’s selections:
Ffos Las 3:20: Mediolanum
Ffos Las 2:45: Cappagh
