Live on Skysports 3: Wed 10.00: Both India and Australia attract odds of 10/11 for the 2nd ODI (Blue Square); the Aussies can win.
Unfortunately the 1st ODI was a wash out and so was the opportunity to back Australia at odds against but now the bookies have plumped for a non-commital 10/11 about both teams (Blue Square, Bet365).
On to Visakhapatnam for the 2nd ODI then and India’s momentum from the Test series victory will certainly have been tempered somewhat. On paper it has to be said Australia’s slightly novice squad looked marginally better than India’s also novice squad and the Australians are a good back to get the 1st victory.
David Warner could be the man to provide the runs alongside Cameron White for the tourists as Warner himself admitted he aims to be the ‘new Gilchrist’. He has the same explosive method of playing as the great ‘keeper and could be a good shout to power Australia to an opening victory – Warner is 4/1 with Stan James to be top batsmen for the Baggy Greens.
India’s slightly patchy ODI form in 2010, 11 wins from 21, does not lend well to their price and they will have to contend with a couple of unknown quantities in the Australian attack, all underpinned by Doug Bollinger. MS Dhoni can provide fireworks (6/1 with 888sport to top score for India) and Vijay will offer a more steady approach – he is 4/1 at Bet365 to be top knock.
Skybet also have 10/11 about both teams to win the series as unfortunately rain threatens the remaining 2 fixtures implying perhaps just 1 victory will be enough to win overall.
