Betrescue’s resident tipster Paul Ferguson goes to Punchestown for his selections on Wednesday in the 2.45 and 3.20
Punchestown stages another cracking card on Wednesday and the 2m4f beginners’ chase (3:50) is a race to watch closely.
There are bound to be plenty of future winners lining up in that contest and the 2m event half an hour earlier is another fascinating race.
Smart hurdler Noble Prince is likely to be a warm order, but he has never won over the minimum trip, so I’m taking a chance on the wellbeing of Saludos (3:20) who hasn’t been seen since February.
Jessie Harrington’s Bob Back gelding was a smart novice hurdler last year, but always appealed as the type to excel over fences.
Another to take a chance on is Noel Meade’s Pointilliste (2:45) who was a high-class stayer on the Flat in France (placed in Group 2 company).
Sixth over an inadequate looking 2m on his hurdles bow, he could have improved enough to score, especially as Meade’s horses continue in fine form.
Favourite Rivage D’Or is a winner waiting to happen, but he has had six chances to score over timber and might be vulnerable to a less exposed type.
Wednesday’s selections:
2:45 Punchestown: Pointilliste
3:20 Punchestown: Saludos
