Live On Sky Sports 1: Thu 13.30: Angus Loughran previews the Alfred Dunhill Links and McGladrey Classic.
US Open Champion Graeme McDowell kept his nerve on Monday to win the Ryder Cup for Europe at Celtic Manor and heads to St Andrews this week with some unfinished buisness going back 6 years when he lost in a play off to Scot Stephen Gallacher at the first extra hole.
McDowell is entitled, like all Ryder Cup team members, to be very tired but rates a great value each way bet at 25/1 with Ladbrokes to win this weeks Dunhill Links. Matteo Mannesero can be backed at 5/2 to play in the 2012 Ryder Cup in Chicago with Skybet and I will be very suprised if he fails to do so. At 55/1 with Boylesports he must be backed each way this week because it is only a matter of time before this exciting young teenager wins on European Tour.
In America, Sea Island in Georgia makes its strokeplay debut on the PGA Tour in the form of the McGladrey Classic and I like the chances of local boy Jonathon Byrd at 22/1 (Stan James) and after a tough start to 2010, has shown improved form in recent weeks and can give backers a good run for their money in a very open contest.
