Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday from Aintree. Cue Card to win and Dance Island each way
At the time of writing Captain Chris remains an intended runner at Aintree on Sunday and, if he lines up, the price available for Cue Card (4:30) will be much more attractive.
The Champion Bumper winner makes his eagerly awaited hurdles debut and connections will be disappointed if he doesn’t make a winning start, especially in receipt of weight from his main market rivals.
The chase debut of Wishfull Thinking and the British debut of the much-touted Franklino add further spice to a potentially informative card, but both promise to be sent off at pretty short odds.
Earlier on the card, at much more rewarding odds, it may be worth giving a chance to Dance Island (3:20) who returns in the 3m handicap hurdle.
He improved markedly over fences last term and was last seen pushing Burton Port here at the Grand National meeting and, if translating that improvement back to hurdles, he could outrun his likely odds.
Sunday’s selection:
4:30 Aintree: Cue Card
3:20 Aintree: Dance Island (e/w)
