Tennis Betting: Live on British Eurosport: Tue 16.30: The men complete Round 4 today while the women get the QF’s underway at Flushing Meadows. Check today’s odds and all US Open odds.
The US Open has soon forgotten Andy Murray, such was the way he limped (literally) out of this year’s final Slam; Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal continue their march to meet in the final.
Federer can still be picked up at 6/4 with Bodog to win outright, which seems like a fair price considering he had reached the last 6 finals, only losing out in 2009. Federer will face Robin Soderling, the trickiest remaining player after Nadal (and arguably trickier). Soderling is 14/1 at Ladbrokes for the title and must overcome Federer and potentially Djokovic to reach the final. You can’t help but feel that was he drawn in the opposite half, he might have had a very good chance at reaching the final. As it is, Soderling is 10/3 with Betdaq to win his quarter final (Wednesday) and must produce something amazing to beat Federer.
Tuesday will concentrate on the remaining 4 matches of Round 4, which include 5 Spaniards. Rafa Nadal (13/8 outright, Totesport) is a paltry 1/16 at William Hill to progress over Feliciano Lopez and Nadal will then face the winner of Ferrer and Verdasco. That match has the potential to be the match of the day as both players are very dangerous on their day. Ferrer, 90/1 to win outright at Paddy Power, has not dropped a set so far where as Verdasco has played out a 5 setter. David Ferrer is 13/10 outsider with Boylesports for this match but has every chance of going through and gets the nod over his Spanish opponent. In fact, at 90/1, might be worth a small interest each way.
Elsewhere, Wawrinka is 1/1 at Coral against Querrey (5/6 Ladbrokes) and Youzhny should progress against Robredo as the 2/5 fav (Ladbrokes).
In the women’s event, the quarter finals start today when Schiavone meets Venus Williams. Bet365 have 2/1 on Schiavone and Williams has looked pretty good so far at Flushing Meadows, coming in as 9/20 fav with Betdaq. Williams, 6/1 outright with Betfred is unfortunate to be in Clijsters’ half of the draw (whom she will meet should they both win) and Wozniacki is looking good to make the final in the opposite half; she is 6/4 at Blue Square to win overall. Clijsters and Stosur contest the other quarter final today, Clijsters a firm 2/9 with 888sport to get through.
