With 4 days to go until the Ryder Cup starts, Europe remain the 4/6 favs with William Hill to beat the USA at Celtic Manor.
At the weekend, Jim Furyk showed he will be a big player for Team USA after he won The Tour Championship but Monty will feel justified as Captain’s Pick Luke Donald was just 1 shot behind in 2nd.
Furyk is a pretty backable 8/1 at Betfred to be top American, with a slightly out of sorts Tiger Woods the 5/1 fav for Team USA (Totesport). Luke Donald is a 9/1 shot (Paddy Power) to be Europe’s best player and, interestingly, 5/2 at Sportingbet to be top Englishman. Lee Westwood is currently the 2/1 fav (Skybet) to be the best English player at the Ryder Cup but given Westwood’s injury and Donald’s two high profile 2nd places during September, the latter looks like he could shine for Europe this time round.
Friday begins with the 4-balls and the foursomes, Europe are 5/6 (Paddy Power) to be ahead at the end of Day 1 and 11/1 (Skybet) to take a commanding 5-2 lead.
