Championship leaders QPR have won seven of their eight matches this term and all of their victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet. Neil Warnock’s men are worthy favourites then at 4/6 with William Hill ahead of the visit of Millwall and Paddy Power’s 7/4 for Rangers to win ‘to nil’ once more will also prove popular, however, all good runs must come to an end and so we’re happy to seek midweek value elsewhere in the division.
Portsmouth are the first team to jump from the page following their impressive 6-1 triumph against Leicester last Friday. That was Pompey’s first success of the campaign and they look well-placed at 21/20 (Betfred) to follow it up with another maximum haul as they tackle fellow strugglers Bristol City at Fratton Park. The Robins have won just one match so far and although they managed a creditable point at Burnley last time out, their form does little to suggest that they can prevent Steve Cotterill’s steadily-improving charges from making it back-to-back wins.
Liam Lawrence meanwhile, has made an impact since his loan switch to the south coast and at 16/5 (Paddy Power) he can grab his fourth goal for the hosts at some point.
Elsewhere, in-form Watford have managed three straight wins, scoring eleven times in the process and they’re cracking value at 13/10 with Victor Chandler to see off a Swansea side whose four games on the road have all ended in defeat.
Also primed for a home win are 888Sport’s 8/11 favourites Leeds whose late winner against Sheffield United stands them in good stead ahead of the visit of Preston. Meanwhile, Cardiff (4/7, bet365) are a banker as they entertain Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, quoted by Totesport at 20/21, look set to start turning more draws into victories and they’re a solid bet to send goal-shy Sheffield United home empty-handed.
At 2/1 with Paddy Power Billy Davies’ side can combine victory with a clean sheet at the City Ground, against a Blades outfit with only four goals to their name in eight outings.
