Snooker Betting: Live on British Eurosport: Mon 08.00: The first full ranking event of the new snooker season, the Shanghai Masters, breaks off on Monday. The Daily Star’s veteran sports reporter KEVIN FRANCIS casts an eye over the baize…
Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and world champion Neil Robertson will all be in the Far East for the event which begins on Monday and culminates next Sunday. But it’s one of the lesser names who I fancy to spring a surprise.
China’s DING JUNHUI, who is based in Sheffield, has only played once this season and will be desperate to impress in front of his home fans. The 23-year-old has missed the Players Tour Championship in the UK earlier this year, explaining: “I had a problem with my visa so I wasn’t able to get to the UK. Everyone else has been playing in the PTC events.”
Although he may be a little ring rusty, he has been practicing every day since the visa issue was resolved and I fancy a little punt on him at 15/2 with 888sport. And remember, you can get on an each-way bet on him finishing
winner or runner-up.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is favourite with Victor Chandler who are offering 9/2 on the mercurial Londoner to triumph in an event that will be screened twice daily on Eurosport.
SUGGESTED BET: Ronnie O’Sullivan to win at 9/2 with Victor Chandler and an each-way punt on Ding Juhui at 15/2 with 888sport.
Cheers
Kevin
