UFC 118 BETTING: Live on ESPN: Sun 03.00 Betrescue’s latest signing is the Daily Star’s veteran sports writer Kevin Francis. This week Kevin looks ahead to UFC 118 in Boston, USA.
Two superstars collide in Boston in the early hours of Sunday morning when UFC legend Randy Couture locks horns with boxing veteran James ‘Lights Out’ Toney, who will be making his UFC debut at the age of 41. It’s the first time that two exponents of boxing and UFC have ever met at this level. Both men have held multiple world titles at different weights and will meet in an intriguing catchweight contest. The 47-year-old Couture is the clear favourite with Boylesports, Bluesquare, Paddy Power and William Hill all
rating him a 1/6 shot. Toney, who will at least have a puncher’s chance of a shock result, is a best-priced 5/1 with bet356, Stan James, Sportingbet and Victor Chandler.
The other co-main event of the night is the eagerly-awaited re-match between current lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and the man from whom he took the belt – B J Penn. Crowd favourite Penn is a firm 3/10 shot with Boylesports and Sportingbet with the unusual scenario of the current champ occupying the underdog position at 11/4 with Betfred and William Hill. Although Edgar started out in the sport as a wrestler, it was his excellent stand-up approach that earned him the belt with a unanimous points win over Penn in April.
SUGGESTED BET: Edgar has shocked Penn before and he can do it again with my suggestion being a punt on him at 11/4 with Betfred and William Hill.
Cheers
Kevin
