Football Betting: All eyes will be on Craig Bellamy and Cardiff in the Championship, but we think QPR and Coventry represent better value, while Hull’s clash with Watford should produce goals.
The big news as far as the Championship is concerned this week is Craig Bellamy’s switch to Cardiff and all eyes will be on the Welsh international striker as he makes his Bluebirds debut against Doncaster. The former Man City man is sure to interest punters ahead of the clash but bookies are wise to the danger and Bellamy is as short as evens with William Hill to mark his first game with a goal.
Better value can be found elsewhere then, starting at Loftus Road, where buoyant league leaders QPR entertain Scunthorpe. The latter, despite an opening day success at Reading, are likely to garner most of their points on home soil while struggling on their travels and Rangers, Jaxx.com’s 1/2 favourites, can capitalise to make it three wins a row. Full of confidence, Neil Warnock’s men can also prevail by a couple of goals and they’re worth backing from a goal back in the handicaps at 11/8 (Stan James).
In Saturday’s televised clash, Ladbrokes’ 11/8 chances Coventry can build on their late comeback at Watford by seeing off Derby at the Ricoh Arena, where new boy Lucas Jutkiewicz, a striker not short on confidence, is a tasty 11/5 with Paddy Power to get on the scoresheet.
Betdaq make Hull 11/10 to see off Watford but given both teams’ opening fixtures the best bet at the KC Stadium is 888Sport’s 4/5 for both to find the net. Keith Millen meanwhile is evens (bet365) to secure his first win as Bristol City boss, against Barnsley and draw fanciers could do worse than Totesport’s 12/5 for Reading and Nottingham Forest to be inseparable at the Madejski Stadium.
Recommended Bets:
Both teams to score in Hull v Watford game – 4/5 (888Sport)
Coventry to beat Derby – 11/8 (Ladbrokes)
QPR (-1) in handicaps against Scunthorpe – 11/8 (Stan James)
