FOOTBALL BETTING: Round 1 of the Carling Cup continues on Wednesday evening; 3 Championship sides are in action, in particular Cardiff who host Burton Albion.
Of the three Championship sides in Carling Cup action on Wednesday, only Cardiff really look anything like a decent bet to book their place in the next round. Sadly the Bluebirds are just 4/9 at best with Victor Chandler to get the better of League Two outfit Burton Albion (13/2, bet365).
Dave Jones’ side will have been disappointed that they failed to overcome ten-man Sheffield United on Sunday but they shouldn’t have as much trouble breaking down the Brewers and they can prevail by at least a couple of goals at the Cardiff City Stadium; an outcome Paddy Power price at 13/10.
William Hill’s 11/1 for them to triumph 3-1 may be worth a modest punt then, especially as the clash looks a banker at 5/6 (Betdaq) to produce three or more goals.
Beaten at home on Saturday by Championship relegation favourites Scunthorpe, Reading are far from an attractive proposition at 11/10 with Partybets as they head to buoyant Torquay. The Gulls defeated Northampton 3-0 at Plainmoor in their opener and they look a touch overpriced at 13/5 (bet365), although the insurance of a goal start for the League Two side in the handicaps, at 8/11 with Betfred, isn’t without appeal.
In the evening’s other contest, Ladbrokes rate Sheffield United as 6/5 favourites as they head to Hartlepool but like Reading the Blades are hard to get excited about at that price and a small flutter on the hosts at 21/10 (Jaxx.com) might reap rewards at Victoria Park.
