Horse Racing: Racing guru Alan Thomson takes a good look at some of Saturday’s racing and picks out some fancies at Beverley, Newmarket and Redcar, including the Beverley Bullet Sprint.
MASTA PLASTA (3.30) blasted back to form with an all-the-way victory at Nottingham and should make a bold bid to land the totesport-sponsored Beverley Bullet on Saturday. Dandy Nicholls appears to have got Masta Plasta back to peak powers and stall nine is ideal for this free-running sprinter.
There is another Listed sprint at Newmarket, which offers an ideal opportunity for DONCASTER ROVER (3.20) to post his first victory of the season. The four-year-old meets some progressive younger rivals in Dafeef, Bated Breath and Rodrigo De Torres, but he has been trading blows with some classy types in Equiano, Main Aim and Regal Prade, so this looks less onerous a task.
The ground will be riding much quicker at Redcar, where SQUALL (6.50) can gain quick compensation for a troubled run at Ripon last weekend when tightened up at a vital stage.
DUBAWI KING (7.20) was given a shocker of a ride at Nottingham last time out and could pop up at a nice price in the staying handicap.
Tally Ho
