TENNIS BETTING: Live on BBC from 12.00: Federer was comfortably beaten in 4 sets and Andy Murray must now face Nadal in the semi final. Compare all Wimbledon Odds.
Mens
Roger Federer has only lost 1 match at Wimbledon in 7 years, the 2008 final, but on Wednesday he doubled that total as Thomas Berdych impressively knocked the Swiss maestro out at the quarter-final stage. Federer had been 9/5 fav with 10bet and now Rafa Nadal takes up the mantle as 5/4 fav with Boylesports.
Nadal was back on his game as he overcame Robin Soderling in 4 sets and celebrated wildly as he set up a semi final tie with Andy Murray, who himself won in 4 sets against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Murray rolls in as 3/1 2nd fav with Betdaq, the bookies clearly thinking the winner of Wimbledon will come from this half of the draw.
Novak Djokovic, who was so impressive against unseeded Yen-Hsun Lu, is 5/1 with Skybet and he must face Federer’s conquerer Thomas Berdych (11/2 for the tournament with Betfred).
Berdych and Djokovic are evenly locked in the semi final betting, Ladbrokes 1/1 about Berdych and Skybet offering 10/11 about Djokovic. It may be a shrewd move to back Djokovic in both the single and the outright as his 5/1 tag will soon drop, no matter who he faces in the final.
One special mention to unseeded Briton Oliver Golding who progressed to the boy’s quarters after beating no. 1 seed Jason Kubler.
Womens
Serena William Strode into the Ladies’ final of Wimbledon with a comfortable 2-0 win over Kvitova to face Vera Zvonareva of Russia on Saturday.
Williams is an overwhelming 2/11 fav with Betdaq to walk away with the £1 million winner’s cheque, and at 5/1 (Ladbrokes), it looks like Zvonareva will have to make do with £500k as runner-up.
If you fancy a fight from the Russian, Serena to win 2-1 is 7/2 with Boylesports.
