TENNIS BETTING: Loads of tennis action this week in both the ATP and WTA tours. Andy Murray heads to Los Angeles while the women compete in the Bank of West Classic.
Men’s Tour:
Andy Murray heads to LA for the LA Open (Farmers Classic) to challenge Sam Querrey for his title. Murray is 5/4 clear fav with Victor Chandler to take it from the popular American, Querrey 9/2 at Betfred to defend it.
Murray is a last minute replacement for Novak Djokovic who had to pull out, along with Juan Martin Del Potro, in an attempt to keep ticket sales up for the slightly flagging event. Murray really should go all the way but in his first tournament since Wimbledon, may suffer from some rustiness. Mardy Fish, a possible semi-final opponent for Murray, could go well at 8/1 with Betfred.
Over in Gstaad, Nicolas Almagro heads the betting for the Suisse Open clay event, the 2nd seed is 11/4 with Paddy Power. Top-seed Youzhny has to settle for 5/1 at William Hill. Richard Gasquet returns after injury in Great Britain and at 7/1 with Stan James, looks like he could go far.
Finally, Nikolay Davydenko heads the seeds at the Croatia Open. Davydenko has been disappointing recently, following up a weak Wimbledon with 2 more poor shows, losing to opposition ranked in the 80’s. The 2/1 about him with Bet365 is hard to take seriously, especially because 2nd seed Jurgen Melzer made it to the Hamburg final last time out and offers much more value at 7/2 with Paddy Power.
Women’s Tour:
Sam Stosur leads the betting in the Bank of West Classic this week and can be glad Schiavone, who beat Stosur in the French Open final, is heading off to the Istanbul Open.
Stosur is 4/1 fav with Coral in a very competitive and open field. Sharapova, 13/2 with Bet365, stands a good chance and will be very keen to get back to winning ways. Defending champion Marion Bartoli is 20/1 at Ladbrokes to keep her trophy.
