Ascot watered 6mm on Thursday evening
Punters looking for clues for the big field races on the straight course at Royal Ascot this week were given an early indicator on Sunday when clerk Chris Stickels issued GoingStick readings which suggest that the far rail has an edge over the stands’ side.
The readings for the straight course on Sunday afternoon were 9.0 on the stands’ side, 8.8 on the centre and 9.2 on the far side. The round course reading was 8.5
Coronation Stakes:
Lillie Langtry is eased back to 5/1 from 7/2 by Paddy Power but is still fav.
There would be few more popular winners at Royal Ascot on Friday than Jacqueline Quest, 1st but disqualified in the 1000 Guineas, moving in to 8/1 with Bet365.
Stan James have gone further to make Jacqueline Quest 6/1 but most are holding steady at 7’s or 8’s.
Famous, a 66/1 outside shout, was halved by Sportingbet to 33/1 but has drifted back out again to 66’s at Coral and others.
Golden Jubilee Stakes:
Showcasing had made some movement yesterday but is held firm at 6/1 (Betfred)
Starspangledbanner with an early morning move, 7/1 from 9/1 (Paddy Power), vying for 2nd fav position with Happy Zero and Fleeting Spirit.
Wokingham Heritage Handicap:
The Wokingham market sprang into life yesterday lunchtime after it was revealed Hawkeyethenoo, joint 7/1 fav with Genki, failed to make the cut for the final field. Genki is left as clear fav, totesport shortening to 6/1 from 8/1.
Laddies Poker Two has been in the spotlight in the early market moves, 10/1 from 14’s at Totesport and Stan James.
Prohibit is back on the move in after yo-yoing a bit yesterday, 33/1 into 20/1 at Sportingbet.
