CRICKET BETTING: Live on SkySports1: Wed 12:30: England v Australia in the 4th ODI of the series, England have tied up the series but it’s time for Australian revenge.
England have wrapped up this summer’s 1-day series with Australia already after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead following a win at Old Trafford.
England have been fantastic in this series, Doug Bollinger himself admitting England are a different team to the one that got thrashed 6-1 last year.
In the 4th ODI of 5, at The Oval, most bookies are going 10/11 about both teams (Bet365, Ladbrokes, SkyBet) but Boylesports are offering 1/1 on Australia, 4/5 on England.
The onus is on Australia to save face and avoid a 5-0 whitewash and that is exactly what they will do. The tourists showed the fight and desire to win to the very last ball that is synonymous with Australian cricket teams at the conclusion of the Old Trafford match. Admittedly this surge, England losing 6 wickets for 18 runs, was too late for them (only just) but this represents the quality that is present in there somewhere.
Combined with England’s series wrap-up ‘hangover’ and some true Aussie grit, Australia can capitalise on this and get a notch on the board. Shaun Tait looked particularly menacing last time out and can scoop a few wickets to be Australian top bowler at 11/4 with Blue Square. Watson has been in good form with the bat and whilst Ponting’s mind seems to have been elsewhere, it’s the captain who can now feel free to play his game, knowing his side have lost. Ponting is 7/2 to top bat for the Aussies with Betfred.
England appear to be able to score runs from anywhere but they may be pegged back here, a succession of low scores making up the total. Perhaps a small stake on Collingwood to thrash a quick 40 and top score for England at 6/1 with Boylesports.
