GOLF BETTING: Live On Sky Sports 3: Thu from 11:30: Angus Loughran previews this week’s Estoril Open and the St Jude Classic and flags up his best bets for each tournament.
This weeks Golf action has the feel very much of that of a week before a Major; in this case next week’s US Open at Pebble Beach. Justin Rose finally won on the PGA Tour on Sunday, winning The Memorial but failed to qualify for next week’s US Open which is a shame considering how well he is playing at present.
Chris Wood is just a winner waiting to happen and at 11/1 (BetDaq) is without doubt the one to beat in this week’s Estoril Open. Wood has been playing some great golf over last month and has a big chance in a weaker field this week. Robert Rock at 16/1 with 888sport should also go well.
The St Jude Classic sees Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy top the betting (12/1 and 16/1 respectively, Ladbrokes) with Padraig Harrington also a leading contender, 20/1 with Sportingbet. This must be music to the ears of Colin Montgomorie, the European Ryder Cup Captain whom himself qualified for Open at St Andrews with a brilliant 62 earlier in the week. Columbian Camillo Villegas is overpriced at 28/1 with Boylesports in the St Jude Classic with players very much looking ahead to Pebble Beach next week which promises to be a tremendous US Open.
