FOOTBALL BETTING: Live on SkySports 1: Wed 19.45: The Playoffs 2nd leg in League 2 sees Rotherham United entertain Aldershot; The Shots are looking to overturn a 1 goal deficit.
Adam Le Fondre’s late strike for Rotherham at Aldershot means the Millers have one foot in the League Two play-off final and accordingly, Totesport price Ronnie Moore’s men at just 2/7 to get to Wembley. Shots are 7/2 with 888Sport having lost 1-0 at home in the first leg but all is not lost for Kevin Dillon’s troops given that only one goal separates the pair with at least 90 minutes left to play and with home advantage often having little or no effect in the play-offs, we’re happy to side with the visitors in this one.
It will be difficult for the hosts to decide how to approach the fixture given that they hold a slender lead but for Aldershot, it’s far more straightforward; they need to go for it and win. Rotherham of course will settle for a draw, rated by Totesport at 12/5 but there’s a danger in playing for that result and Dillon’s charges appear overpriced at 5/2 (Stan James) to capitalise on a potentially tentative Millers’ showing by securing a victory in normal time.
Of course Aldershot would have to prevail by at least two clear goals if they are to reach Wembley in 90 minutes (13/2, bet365) and that’s a big ask so it may be wise to consider some insurance; perhaps a modest flutter on them to sneak through on penalties at 16/1 (Paddy Power), backed up with a wager on the Millers to do likewise.
For the more cautious, Ladbrokes quote Aldershot at 4/6 to either win or draw in normal time while ambitious punters can head to Betdaq, who post 9/1 against Shots grabbing the game’s only goal.
