RUGBY UNION BETTING: Live on Skysports3: Sat 17.30: Leicester Tigers head into a 6th consecutive Guinness Premiership Final but Saracens will be giving their all on their debut.
Saracens head to Twickenham to try and bring home their first ever Premiership title but must face English rugby union’s silverware experts, Leicester Tigers.
Saracens’ cause has not been aided by the ‘Biscuitgate’ scandal surrounding director Brendan Venter, which sees him barred from Twickenham for the final but the South African insists it will make no difference to the team spirit.
Leicester, who won the league in the regular season, are going for an amazing 7th Premiership crown and at 4/7 with Paddy Power, there are not many punters who would stand in their way. Perhaps the Leicester/Leicester HT/FT at 11/10 with totesport represents more value. Saracens are 15/8 with Ladbrokes, the bookies appearing to give them some respect here after a fantastic 21-19 away win over Northampton Saints.
Whilst Leicester dominate Saracens in terms of head to heads in the Premiership, Leicester notching 17 wins of the last 26 meets, their league record was exactly the same (W 15 D 1 L 6), Leicester coming out on top with bonus points. Also interestingly, Saracens have won both previous Twickenham finals they have contested: the 1998 Tetley’s Bitter Cup and the Zurich Wildcard in 2005 (neither against Leicester though).
So, there is some evidence Saracens won’t come to be another statistic in Leicester’s trophy room, Betfred offer 10/11 on Saracens to win with a +6 headstart. In what must surely be a close, fierce encounter, this could be the key bet.
