DARTS BETTING: Live On Sky Sports 1: Thur 19:00 Week 14 of the Darts Premier League, the final week of the regular season before the semi’s, comes from the Nottingham Arena.
Simon Whitlock v Mervyn King
Whitlock and King are 2nd and 3rd in the table respectively but this is hardly the match up that King needs to remain in a playoff position. King has struggled for consistency, 1 win in the past 5, and another defeat to Whitlock would leave him looking over his shoulder at other results. King is 2/1 with Ladbrokes to prevail but nerves and form may prove to be too much of a hindrance and it is Whitlock who can come through at 19/20 (Bet365)
Terry Jenkins v James Wade
A tight match in the balance here, Jenkins seems to have lost enthusiasm come the season end and Wade is (another) pushing for the playoffs. It would be sensible to back the man chasing the semi’s, Wade, at 1/2 with Stan James. Jenkins is 9/2 with SportingBet.
Ronnie Baxter v Raymond Van Barneveld
Barney can’t make the top 4 (one of the few!) but his scintillating form over the last 2 rounds has him installed as 1/1 fav with Blue Square and rightly so. Baxter needs a win and some kind results to ensure a top 4 but his lack of winning form will cost him dear, he is as long as 23/10 (SportingBet).
Phil Taylor v Adrian Lewis
Lewis has hardly done himself any favours this last 2 weeks with 2 draws but he still has an outside chance of making the playoffs. Lewis must beat Taylor, at 15/2 with Totesport, and hope other results go his way, which is all too hopeful. Taylor is 2/7 at Will Hills to win, which would seem like a foregone conclusion on recent form.
Overall:
Interestingly, Whitlock is 13/8 with Boylesports to win the league without Taylor. If he can stay 2nd after this round and prevail in the semi’s, that is good enough to win the bet.
Taylor can still be backed at 2/7 with Coral for the title, which represents reasonable odds given his form.
