FOOTBALL BETTING: Live on SkySports1: 19.45: Cardiff have the advantage going into the 2nd leg of this Playoff Semi Final and they can realistically look ahead to Wembley. Chris Hutcheon previews.
Cardiff are now on the brink of booking their place at Wembley for the play-off final following a 1-0 triumph at Leicester but at 1/5 with Totesport, qualification for the Bluebirds won’t pocket huge amounts for punters. Instead, it could be worth siding with Dave Jones’ charges to follow up their victory at the Walkers Stadium with another on home soil and they can be backed at a tasty 11/10 (888Sport) to see off the Foxes.
Another close affair seems likely and indeed, a draw could be well backed at 12/5 with Victor Chandler but for those fearing the stalemate, Paddy Power’s 1/2 for a Cardiff triumph in their ‘Draw No Bet’ market stands out.
However, Jones’ charges have an edge in terms of the scoreline and also psychologically having knocked the stuffing out of Leicester on Sunday and they’re a tasty 7/1 (Stan James) to repeat their 1-0 success on their own patch.
Ladbrokes’ 16/5 marked against a home win by a solitary goal is a safer variation on that theme and another win ‘to nil’ (2/1, Partybets) isn’t out of the question against a Foxes outfit who squandered chance after chance and must be thinking their luck in front of goal has deserted them.
At 5/1 with Betfred meanwhile, Michael Chopra is the player the bookies fear in the first scorer betting, perhaps unsurprisingly given the number of opportunities the striker had at the Walkers Stadium, but a better bet is Ladbrokes’ 6/4 for him to net at any stage.
