Victory for Chelsea over Bolton will see Carlo Ancelotti’s side move four points clear. Chris Hutcheon previews the best of Tuesday’s action.
Chelsea tightened their grip on the Premiership crown without playing a league game at the weekend as Manchester United failed to overcome Blackburn at Ewood Park and the Blues can extend their lead to four points, with as many games left to play, as they entertain Bolton.
Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, who are now just 3/10 with 888Sport to clinch top spot, are just 1/6 (Betfred) to send the Trotters home from Stamford Bridge empty-handed, but the buoyant hosts’ form suggests they can win with a bit to spare and so it could be worth speculating on a comfortable home win to net any kind of meaningful return.
A victory by at least two clear goals is one option at 2/5 with William Hill but as that price is also a touch skinny, Totesport’s 5/4 for Chelsea to come out on top in the handicaps when kicking off from two goals behind is perhaps the best bet.
More accurately a 3-0 Chelsea success is rated at 13/2 by Victor Chandler and Didier Drogba is a banker at 8/13 (Stan James) to get on the scoresheet at some stage.
In the Championship, with two games in hand over those above them, Reading still have a very slim chance of gatecrashing the play-offs and they’re a cracking 17/10 with Betdaq to secure another three points as they entertain promoted Newcastle.
At 6/4 (Paddy Power) meanwhile, Grimsby are the eye catcher in League Two, the Mariners set to record another victory in their battle for survival; this time at the expense of patchy Chesterfield.
