FORMULA ONE BETTING: Jenson Button is now 8/1 with Bet365 to win the F1 Driver’s Championship after victory in rainy Melbourne last weekend, whilst his team, McClaren, are 10/3 for the Constructor’s.
Brake problems for Vettel and Alonso’s 4th place finish mean that Button moves within 6 points of championship leader Fernando Alonso, however Betfred’s 7/4 on the Spaniard would indicate they are still confident he will take the crown.
Lewis Hamilton remains McClaren’s main hope for glory according to the bookies, William Hill have him at 6/1. He sits a further 8 points from Button, 14 from the top.
Michael Schumacher’s high profile return has amounted to a 6th and a 10th place finish so far and Ladbrokes’ 25/1 about him to win the Championship would indicate predictions of a long season ahead for the seven-time World Champion.
In the Constructor’s Championship, Ferrari remain odds on favs to win at 5/6 with SkyBet, whilst Paddy Power have challengers Red Bull at 3/1. Bet365 put 10/3 on McClaren perhaps due to Button’s claims that McClaren need to improve their car to win more races.
Ladbrokes make Sebastian Vettel their 9/4 jolly to win this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix, Alonso can be backed at 3/1 at 888Sport, Totesport consider Hamilton a 6/1 shot.
Don’t discount back to back wins for Button at 10/1 with bet365 however. The Brit was victorious in Sepang this time last year and has to be worth a shout at 7/4 at Partybets.com to secure a top three podium finish.
