FOOTBALL BETTING: Tottenham are back in to 2/1 with Stan James to take 4th place and Arsenal’s title hopes took a major blow at White Hart Lane as Spurs won 2-1.
A cracking league debut goal for Tottenham’s Danny Rose set Spurs on their way to a crucial 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
That win puts something of a dent in Arsenal’s title aspirations, The Gunners are right out to 25/1 with Ladbrokes. A win for Arsenal would have taken them to 2nd, with everything to play for but suddenly, after last night, they look defeated at 6 points off the pace. Chelsea move into 1/7 (Blue Square) and Man United are 13/2 with Totesport. The odds could all change, for the umpteenth time this season, if United win and Chelsea lose; surely a viable scenario. It would take a brave man to write off Man United at any stage, whatever the outlook.
The bookies still fancy Man City, 888sport, among others, putting 8/15 on them to get the final Champion’s League spot. It suddenly looks tenuous, however, after a fantastic night for Tottenham. City must play Man United and Spurs take on a Chelsea team with a defence one injury away from crisis. At 16/1 (Betfred), it would seem Liverpool’s hopes are fast fading. A draw with Everton did Aston Villa no favours and perhaps brings to a close their chase.
The race for fourth may all hinge on Wednesday the 5th of May, when Man City host Tottenham in the penultimate match of the season for both teams.
