Betrescue Director David Russell gives his weekly preview of all the weekend’s top flight action in Scotland.
Dundee United and Motherwell resume battle for a Europa Cup place tomorrow with home advantage ensuring the Terrors are installed as Partybets’ 11/10 favourites. United finished their last match against ‘Well with just nine men yet managed a 2-2 draw and bet365 offer 7/2 against it again ending as a score draw.
Motherwell are Totesport’s 3/1 underdogs to win, but Betfred’s 4/5 for them to win when handed a one goal advantage is worthy of serious consideration.
Hibs too continue to chase a European place and at 11/8 (888Sport) to register a victory at bottom club Falkirk tomorrow, look decent value. William Hill posts 11/4 about Hibs enjoying a one goal margin of victory, while Stan James posts 7/1 against them winning 1-0.
Paddy Power’s 6/4 for Celtic to overhaul Kilmarnock when starting with a two goal deficit catches the eye as the Parkhead men are an unbackable 1/5 to win. However, punters expecting a spirited Killie performance can get 4/1 (Victor Chandler) against Celtic winning following a drawn opening half.
Many punters suspect that given Hamilton’s and St Johnstone’s tendency to draw, both would settle for a point, a conclusion which adds appeal to Betfred’s 9/4 for tomorrow’s duel to finish all square. Those expecting a goal drought may fancy bet365’s attractive-looking 9/1 marked in favour of a goalless draw.
On current form (ie, over the last 8 league matches) Aberdeen and St Mirren are at the foot of the SPL table, but punters expecting the Dons to end their barren run this afternoon can get 7/1 (Ladbrokes) about them securing a 2-0 victory. Their record against St Mirren suggests that the 15/2 offered by Victor Chandler against a 2-1 success cannot be discounted, although the 8/11 available at 888Sport for the fixture to yield fewer than three goals appeals.
Finally, Hearts are an attractive 6/1 (Betdaq) to burst Rangers’ bubble, but the weight of punters’ cash has been directed either towards a 1-0 Rangers win (6/1, Ladbrokes), or else a 2-0 victory for the league leaders, priced at 13/2 by Jaxx.com.
