NFL BETTING: The annual selection of college players by NFL teams at the draft gets underway next month and Sky Bet are offering a selection of specials on when individual players will be picked.
The St. Louis Rams hold the number one pick in the draft and seemingly in desperate need of a starting quarterback, Sam Bradford would seem to be the consensus number 1 pick this year. It’s 1/3 for the Oklahoma quarterback to be the first player picked.
However, with the ownership of the St Louis Rams is in a state of flux and they may want to avoid having to pay premium wages to a quarterback. It’s 9/4 for Bradford to be picked in the 2nd round or later.
Sky Bet’s NFL betting expert Ben Wright told betrescue.com: “Yesterday it was rumoured that Bradford would refuse to agree to a contract before the draft, this makes picking him a risk, as he can hold out from taking part in preseason training and early season games. If St. Louis see that as a possibility, they instead choose to pick one of the marquee defensive players in the draft, either Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy.”
Tim Tebow, the unique quarterback from the University of Florida is probably the draft’s most intriguing player. His individual skill set seems ill suited to the role of traditional NFL quarterback. It’s 3/1 for Tebow to be picked in the first round of players and 4/5 the second (7/2 3rd round and 9/1 4th round or later).
