FOOTBALL BETTING:
Betrescue’s Chief Sports Writer Chris Hutcheon takes his weekly look at all the big games in the Championship, League One and League Two.
Five wins in six games, a run punctured only by a defeat at leaders Newcastle, have thrust Coventry into play-off contention and the in-form Sky Blues can continue their excellent run this weekend as they host hapless Plymouth.
Chris Coleman’s side are a cracking 8/11 with Victor Chandler to overcome the struggling Pilgrims and there’s every chance they’ll win at a canter; Paddy Power making them 2/1 to prevail by at least two clear goals.
Loan striker Jon Stead can play a crucial part for City having bagged two in his last two and he looks worth a punt at 7/4 (bet365) to strike at any stage.
Also at 8/11, courtesy of Betfred, Ipswich look set to triumph as they entertain Scunthorpe while Barnsley (11/8, 888Sport) look good value at home to Crystal Palace, Preston and Nottingham Forest are 23/10 with Betdaq to share the spoils at Deepdale and Totesport’s 10/3 for rejuvenated QPR looks huge as they head to manager Neil Warnock’s former employers, Sheffield United.
In League One, the top four look untouchable as they all prepare for tough away fixtures but Stockport (13/8, Victor Chandler) and Yeovil (5/4, 888Sport) catch the eye at big prices as they host poor-travelling pair Gillingham and Hartlepool respectively.
Finally, Crewe shouldn’t be discounted at 2/1 with Partybets ahead of their League Two clash at Torquay and another tempting 2/1 shot, this time quoted by Stan James, are Macclesfield, who host Bury.
Meanwhile, Paddy Power’s 5/4 for Bradford to send Aldershot home empty-handed should prove to be a sound investment and at 8/11 with bet365, Chesterfield are worthy of inclusion in an accumulator ahead of their game with Port Vale.
