HORSE RACING: Tidal Bay ran out an impressive winner of the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham and was slashed from 40/1 to 10/1 for the World Hurdle by Betfred as a major rival to odds on jolly Big Buck’s.
Howard Johnson’s charge was the 14/1 winner of the £50,000 Grade 2 Betfair Cleeve Hurdle at Prestbury Park and was initially cut into 20/1 for the March show piece by Victor Chandler but following continued support for the nine year old, the Gibraltar based outfit were forced to cut him into 12/1 and then 7s.
Neal Wilkins from Victor Chandler told betrescue.com “Punters are clearly look for each way alternatives to Big Bucks and Tidal Bay’s return to the smaller obstacles coincided with a return to winning ways and they have taken the hint and the prices!”
Big Buck’s remains at the head of the World Hurdle betting at a best odds on price of 8/13 with Sportingbet. Karabak can be backed at 6/1 with totesport, Setry Duty is held firm at 12/1 by Ladbrokes, then it’s 25/1 bar the rest.
Elsewhere in the Cheltenham Festival Market Moves news, Stan James make Taranis 25/1 for the Gold Cup and 8/1 in the market without stablemates Denman & Kauto Star after a fluent win in the £100,000 Grade 2 Argento Chase at Cheltenham.
