Both Celtic and Rangers are in action on Tuesday night and the Daily Record’s Paul Jain reckons the Cup could be the Bhoys sole chance of success
Celtic look like they could have used up their nine lives after falling nine points adrift of Rangers at the top of the SPL.
Bookies reacted to the Parkhead side’s failure to beat Falkirk by putting them out to as big as 2-1 (William Hill and totesport) to be crowned champions.
Tony Mowbray’s side are now in danger of finishing the season with nothing and are 9-4 with Hills to do so.
If that happens the calls for Mowbray’s head will be heard from here to Coventry and that’s where a lot of fans will be sending the boss.
Celtic to be trophyless and Mowbray not to be in charge at the start of next season pays 5-1 with Hills. Mowbray is 2-5 to keep his job and 7-4 to be away.
The Scottish Cup is the Hoops’ best chance of success and they are 8/15 with Hills to win on trophy, and 5-1 for two.
Rangers, also in the Co-op Cup semis, are 7-2 to bag the Treble, 5-1 for no trophies, 7-2 one and 10-11 two.
The Ibrox men are a biggest 4-9 with Ladbrokes to retain the title and Walter Smith is 5-6 to still be Rangers boss at the start of next season and 5-6 not to be.
Celtic, 13-8 (Coral) to win the Scottish Cup, launch their assault on the tournament at Morton tonight and should win, with Stenhousemuir awaiting the victors.
Biggest price on the away at Cappielow is 1-5 with Coral while Morton are 14-1 with Betfred.
You won’t get rich quick backing Celts so consider Marc Crosas, one of few who impressed against Falkirk on Saturday, to score first. The Spaniard is 16-1 with Skybet.
Rangers face Hamilton for the third time in 10 days and will expect another tough test.
888Sport‘s 1-5 on the Gers is poor value considering it’s been 3-3 and 1-0 Rangers recently while Accies are 16-1 with totesport.
Smith’s injury-hit side really struggled on Saturday but should do better with Kenny Miller and Lee McCulloch back. Take Miller at 4-1 with Victor Chandler for the opener.
In tonight’s two other ties I’d take Dundee at Livingston and Raith Rovers at home to Airdrie.
Dundee’s top scorer Leigh Griffiths will be keen to put one over his former side and the Dens men are a decent prospect at evens with Coral.
Raith notched a fine league win against Partick at the weekend and will fancy their chances against Airdrie. They are 8-11 with Stan James.
