HORSE RACING: Our All-weather tipster Alan Thomson, former racing editor of the Daily Record, seeks a third winning weekend on the trot with three selections at Lingfield on Saturday.
ROCK A DOODLE DOO (3.20 Lingfield) beat a poor lot at Wolverhampton on Monday but the manner of his emphatic success points to a return to the winner’s circle at Lingfield on Saturday.
William Jarvis’s horses are running much better now after a disastrous 2009 and he has found another soft race for Rock A Doodle Doo. Bubbly Braveheart has a winning chance on official ratings but this battle-hardened performer may lack the scope of my nap.
Mark Johnston’s Lingfield raids have yielded plenty of success over the years, especially in maidens. MONTEROSSO (12.35 Lingfield) is clearly not in the upper-echelon of his powerful yard but is open to some improvement upped in trip. Monterosso was pipped on the line in a blanket finish here in mid-January and holds narrowly Darshonin and Minortransgression on that effort.
R WOODY (2.15 Lingfield) has struck a rich vein of form and found only Kevin Ryan’s Lewyn just too strong at Wolverhampton on Tuesday. He appeared a bit unlucky previously at Kempton having hosed up by three lengths at Southwell in early December. Steve Drowne should be able to get some cover from the inside berth. Top weight Lucky Mellor is admirably consistent and comes into the reckoning along with Sakile and Clifton Bridge in an interesting little event.
Tally Ho
Alan
