X-FACTOR: Joe McElderry has been crowned the latest winner of the X-Factor, and Coral say the result was a good one for the bookies, despite taking a £10k bet as the betting closed at 1-5.
Joe McElderry has been crowned the latest winner of the X-Factor, and Coral say the result was a good one for the bookies, despite taking a £10k bet as the betting closed at 1-5.
The likeable Geordie started out as one of the favourites at 8-1 when betting opened back in August, but as the weeks went by his price was cut and he has been the short priced favourite for the last six weeks, with bookies avoiding any large liabilities.
We had Joe marked as a potential winner from a very early stage, and he was one of the favourites throughout, the result was a favourable one, said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
Joe beat Essex lad Olly Murs to the crown, and is now the 1-5 favourite to secure the Christmas Number One.
