HORSE RACING: Go Native landed his second top-level prize in succession when edging out Starluck in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton and Noel Meade’s charge is now 6/1 for the Champion Hurdle with Coral.
Ridden with restraint by Davy Condon, the 5/2 chance cruised upsides the leaders approaching the last, before coming clear of his pursuers.
The Fighting Fifth winner idled badly in front which allowed Starluck to close, but he held on by a short-head.
Go Native will pick up £1million if he can land the Champion Hurdle, after supplementing his Fighting Fifth victory in the Christmas Hurdle.
Trainer Noel Meade said: “I would think you won’t see him again until Cheltenham, that’s my first initial reaction, we’ll leave him now.
“He’s running for £1million, we know he goes well fresh so there is no point taking a risk with him.”
