The gamble on cyclist Mark Cavendish to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year is still peddling on, with Coral bookmakers making a further price cut today, 28-1 (from 33-1), after the GB star was backed again. The multi stage winning rider of the Tour De France was available at 100-1 just a fortnight ago when the nominations were announced.
First Ryan Giggs, and now Cavendish, punters obviously dont want to back the logical ones this year, said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
Jenson Button is still the odds-on favourite to lift the award at 8-11 with Coral, with world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis at 9-2.
The award ceremony will be take place at the Sheffield Arena on the 13th December
