Live on Skysports 4: Sun 14.00: Celtic are 4/6 (Blue Square) to pick up only their third win in six outings as they visit Motherwell in the SPL.
Risking your hard-earned on Celtic has been a costly pastime in recent weeks, the Hoops having lost three out of their last five matches in all competitions but a flutter on Neil Lennon’s boys ahead of today’s trip to Motherwell should pay welcome dividends.
The champions are odds-on at 4/6 with Blue Square to bounce back from last weekend’s semi-final disappointment at the hands of Hearts and although the Steelmen, BetVictor’s 9/2 outsiders, look set to finish third in the table, Celtic should ultimately justify their favouritism.
Like the Hoops, ‘Well haven’t convinced of late, winning just twice in their last seven outings and although they perhaps have more of an incentive as they seek to cement their position as the best of the rest behind the Old Firm duo, Lennon’s troops will be determined to bounce back from that Hampden Park loss and should pick up a sixth consecutive triumph over Stuart McCall’s side.
Nevertheless, in front of their own supporters, the Steelmen can make life difficult for Celtic, who are 11/4 via Ladbrokes to shade it by a one-goal margin and 7/1 (Coral) to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline in a contest that looks a banker at 10/11 courtesy of bet365 to see both teams get on the scoresheet.
Staying with goals, a high-scoring affair could be on the cards at Fir Park given that the visitors have little to play for. It’s subsequently worth considering Boylesports’ even money for the contest to produce three or more goals, a bet that would’ve been successful in four of the last five meetings between the two and the first of those is a tempting 4/1 with Hills to be scored by Bhoys front man Gary Hooper, who has struck in each of his last two against ‘Well.
At Easter Road, Hibs can build on last week’s Scottish Cup semi-final success against Aberdeen, by picking up only their second home win of the campaign at the expense of Kilmarnock. The Hibees are a 13/10 chance at Paddy Power to inflict a third straight defeat on Killie and doubling that up with match tally of more than 2.5 goals at 5/2 (bet365) is a cracking wager given the rate at which the visitors have conceded goals in their last couple.
Recommended Bets:
Gary Hooper to score first – 4/1 (William Hill)
Celtic to beat Motherwell by one – 11/4 (Ladbrokes)
Hibs to win and over 2.5 goals in the match – 5/2 (bet365)
