Paul Ferguson has two selections from Newbury for us on Saturday; Jet Set in the 3:15 and Pacific de Baune at 4:25 .
Charlie Longsdon won last year’s Mares’ Finale at Newbury with Snow Leopardess and JET SET (3:15) is interesting in a competitive renewal this afternoon.
Still a maiden under Rules, the six-year-old has run well in defeat so far this term and was again shaping well when a faller last time. Despite going up 2lbs and facing stiffer opposition, she could be capable of going well. The big field and likely stronger pace might help her settle and she has each-way claims in an open contest.
Later on the card PACIFIC DE BAUNE (4:25) is worth another chance in the novices’ hurdle.
Nicky Henderson’s grey impressed when winning a maiden over course-and-distance earlier in the campaign, before disappointing at Cheltenham on trials day. I’d be happy to forgive any horse a disappointing run on that ground and he can return to winning ways.
Saturday’s selections:
3:15 Newbury – Jet Set; 20/1 Bet365
4:25 Newbury – Pacific de Baune; 8/11 Betfred
