Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Saturday; September (2:30) and Khairaat (3:05) at Ascot and Le Richebourg in the 2:50 at Gowran Park.
Hugely impressive on her racecourse debut at Leopardstown earlier in the month September (2:30) is fancied to make it two from two in the opening Chesham Stakes, on the final day of Royal Ascot.
The Deep Impact filly is out of the top-class Peeping Fawn and she really found her stride in the straight, suggesting the straight 7f will be right up her street here. She is fancied to beat the boys and provide Aidan O’Brien with a fourth win in the race and back-to-back successes, following Churchill’s victory 12 months ago.
Khairaat (3:05) also created a deep impression on his seasonal reappearance at Chester, winning by 4½ lengths, and he can defy a 13lb rise in the Wolferton Handicap.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Shamardal colt looks most progressive and he can take this before being forced up in grade.
Over in Ireland Le Richebourg (2:50) can make it two from two over hurdles in the four-year-old contest at Gowran Park.
Joseph O’Brien’s Network gelding was placed in a couple of decent bumpers, notably on debut at Naas, and he got the job done in taking fashion on his hurdling debut at Killarney last month. He faces stiffer opposition this afternoon, but looks up to the task.
Saturday’s selections:
2:30 Royal Ascot: September; 5/4 William Hill
2:50 Gowran Park: Le Richebourg;
3:05 Royal Ascot: Khairaat; 4/1 William Hill
