Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 19:00 Angus Loughran previews the WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Tiger Woods has played in 13 World Golf Championship events at Firestone and won eight yet you can still get 16/1 about him racking up a ninth victory and you’ll have no problem getting on at that price.
This points to him having only a slim chance but in my opinion he is not as far off the pace as others are suggesting and at the odds I simply have to recommend him this week. The course has provided him with so many special memories and it could inspire him to regain some form after his lengthy layoff.
I really liked the way Rickie Fowler played at Hoylake and potentially a huge player over the second part of season, he’s available at 25/1 in this event, which looks a really decent price.
Adam Scott may well have been the unlucky player at Open with the draw costing him several shots and he looks set to be a leading contender in the USPGA Championship at Valhalla next week so he’ll be popular this week at 11/1.
Rory Mcllroy finally, is the obvious market leader having won the Open but he might have one eye on next week’s USPGA and is only 7/1 here while Jordan Speith looks the best value of the bigger prices at 33/1.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
